Andy Roddick’s countryman, Sam Querrey, will take on Lleyton Hewitt of Australia in the third round of the ongoing AEGON Championships.
Hewitt entered the third round with the help of a convincing win over Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria.
Querrey on the other hand had to toil hard against Aljaz Bedene of Slovenia in the second round. He somehow pulled off the win though, but, the rhythm was not there for him.
Both these players have won this tournament in the past. Hewitt has won it 4 times (in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2006), while, Querrey has won it once (in 2010).
Hewitt hasn’t performed that impressively in the ongoing season thus far. He has been knocked out early from most of the tournaments this year. He has played a total of 16 matches in this season and has managed to win only 7 out of them.
Hewitt is 32 years of age now, but, still he is a very quick mover on the court. He is a fantastic player on grass courts.
Hewitt’s world ranking at the moment is 82.
As far as Querrey is concerned, he is in top 20 in the world rankings at the moment. He is also one of those players who are comfortable playing on grass courts. He is known for generating a lot of power in his shots.
Querrey’s recent form hasn’t been that good. He got knocked out from the opening rounds of Mutua Madrid Open and Rome Masters, while, in the French Open, he only managed to reach the third round where he was defeated by Gilles Simon of France.
Hewitt and Querrey have faced each other thrice in the past. Two of those matches have been won by Hewitt.
This is supposed to be a close match. Hewitt because of his experience might have a slight edge, but, Querrey has got the potential to surprise him.
