Bartoli Stands by Murray Decision

Marion Bartoli has said that Amelie Mauresmo is a great analyzer of the game and Andy Murray’s decision to hire her as head coach is absolutely correct.

Mauresmo’s appointment as Murray’s coach has caught the headlines in almost every news channel and daily in UK in the last week or so. People have been giving it a lot of importance.

Mauresmo’s reputation as consultant so far has been pretty decent. She has helped a couple of players including Bartoli with her advice in the recent past and those players did well after that. Bartoli even went on to win the Wimbledon Championships last year which was her first ever Grand Slam singles title.

Talking to the reporters yesterday about how good Mauresmo can be as coach, Bartoli said, “I think she is a brilliant choice. She is one of those people who always transmit positivity to you. She would not talk to you always, but, whenever she comes and has a chat, you definitely listen to her. She is that kind of a personality, very influential.”

“Amelie is strategically pretty good as well. She’s been a great player herself and she knows what it takes to do well in the Grand Slams.”

“The advice that she gave me last season helped me a lot during my campaign in the Wimbledon Championships. She told me not to get stressed too much and just try to keep the rallies going and when I sit and look back now, I find it as a big reason why I become Champion there.”

The Wimbledon Championships of this year is going to be Mauresmo’s second assignment as Murray’s coach. Her first was the Aegon Championships where the Scot couldn’t perform well and got knocked out early.
